Summary

With over 37 years’ in forensic science, John Page is a very highly respected forensic scientist in his chosen specialism of forensic biology. Before joining Forensic Equity in 2012 John worked for the Forensic Science Service (FSS) as a Senior Forensic Scientist and Forensic Specialist.

 

John is one of the most experienced forensic biologists in the UK, having examined vast numbers of high profile murder cases and complex evidential crime scenes since 1997. 

 

John’s most notable cases include the death of Amanda Dowler and the serial murders in Ipswich.

  • Leading forensic biologist with over 37 years’ experience across multiple forensic disciplines.

  • Senior court reporting scientist with over 22 years’ experience as an expert witness having reported on cases including charges of assault, burglary, robbery, sexual assault, rape, suspicious death, manslaughter and murder.

  • Highly experienced in examining cases involving cross-discipline evidence; with expertise in drugs and toxicology as well as forensic biology.

  • Leading forensic expert in all aspects of forensic biology including DNA, blood pattern analysis and body fluids (blood, semen saliva, urine and faeces).

  • Leading authority on transfer evidence relating to offences against the person and property.

  • Recognised as a leading forensic expert in blood pattern analysis and interpretation including trace evidence found on weapons and clothing.

  • Leading forensic scientist in DNA analysis, profiling and interpretation including low template DNA analysis.

  • Vastly experienced in body fluids analysis.

  • Highly experienced examiner of clothing damage including conventional grouping and damage assessment caused by weapons.

  • Leading forensic expert in hair and fibres evidence, having been site lead for the examination of trace evidence during his time at the Forensic Science Service.

  • Registered forensic practitioner in human contact traces – DNA, body fluids and blood pattern analysis and specialist assessor the CRFP (Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners) prior to the register being closed in 2009.

Notable Work

  • Received the High Sheriff’s Award for Excellence in Forensic Science for Operation Sumac (Ipswich serial murders).

  • Received a Commendation from Cambridgeshire Constabulary for his part in a murder investigation.

  • Provided a number of guest lectures on courses presented at Maddingley Hall Cambridge on behalf of the Cambridge University Institute of Continuing Education
