With 25 years in the IT industry, and a Hons Degree in Science plus post-doctoral work in integrating digital capture technology into biological measurement, Raymond Ford is a highly respected Digital Engineer specialising in GPRS and telematics.

Ramond has been a consultant at Forensic Equity Ltd since 2017, having previously work for Automotive & Insurance Solutions Group Ltd (AIS Group Ltd), as The Group Chief Technology Officer and had been in that post since January 2007.

Ray has been instructed previously for both prosecution and defence in both civil and criminal cases and has given evidence in the Central Criminal Court (CCC) and other courts in England and Wales.

In addition, and specifically relating to telematics devices, Ray has worked in close partnership with
electronic engineers from a leading telecommunications hardware provider for the last 5 years
in developing the next generation of telematics devices for “covert” tracking and recovery and
so has a very detailed understanding of the workings of telematics data gathering technology is
understood.

Raymond’s experience relating to telematics devices specifically includes working in close
partnership with electronic engineers from a leading telematics hardware provider for the last 4
years. He was involved in developing the next generation of telematics devices used for “covert”
tracking and recovery. I therefore have a detailed understanding of the workings of telematics
data gathering technology, specifically: radio networking and GSM/GPRS transmissions; server-side
application development and data capture; GPS and other location based technologies; the use of
accelerometers for “incident” reconstruction purposes.
Furthermore, he has contributed to the design and functionality of our secure vehicle tracking
solutions for asset recovery following “organised” theft and accident reconstruction services for
hired fleet vehicles. He previously worked in close partnership (act as technical consultant/testing
resource) with our group company, In-Car Cleverness Limited, which develops Can Bus based
telemetry solutions (OBD Port used for Can Bus access) for monitoring our own internal as well as
external company fleet vehicles. Vehicles monitored across fleets are in excess of 9000 and range
across all makes and models including light commercial vehicles (LCV’s); telematics data capture
and analysis has been a core operation within the group since 2004.
Ray was previously employed by Automotive and Insurance Solutions Group Plc (“AIS”), as Group
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and have been in post since January 2007. AIS provided automotive
technology solutions, insurance products and vehicle hire services to the automotive sector;
including franchised dealerships, insurers and has been a market leader in this industry since 2004.
Ray provides independent expert witness statements and analysis services in relation to telematics
data and associated automotive data capture devices, specifically hard wired and OBD and Can
Bus related products.
In addition to the above, Ray also works closely with our group company called APU Ltd (Asset
Protection Unit) which investigates vehicle crime, insurance fraud and assists NCA, NAVCIS, and
Police Forces with vehicle tracking asset repatriation and prosecution services.
